Science
Science 8th grade-
Welcome
students and parents. I am excited to have this opportunity to be your child’s
teacher. This will be a fun and enriching year for all of us. This year in science your child will be
introduced to the physical science topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy.
We will integrate technology with a traditional lecture and note taking as well
as a variety of hands on activities all designed to cover the 8th
grade California Science Standards.
Industrial Crafts
Industrial Crafts-
Welcome
to the Industrial Crafts elective. This semester students will be using the
Lego Mindstorm program and equipment to explore the fundamentals of robot
design and programming. Students will be designing; building and programming
Lego Mindstorm robots to problem solve and complete tasks. Each student will be
working in a group of three to four students. Lego equipment and computer
software to complete robot designs and programming in class will be provided. Students
will also be exploring other computer programs to introduce concepts in
computer coding and computer applications.
Gateway to Technology
Gateway to Technology-
cutting-edge program addresses the
interest and energy of middle school students, while incorporating national
standards in math, science and technology. GTT is “activity oriented” to show
students how technology is used in engineering to solve everyday problems. The
instructional units excite and motivate students to use their imaginations while
giving them the opportunity to be creative and innovative. The Gateway To
Technology curriculum provides project-based learning—a hands-on approach--that
is exciting and fun.
